Seven new musical names are ready for The Tall Ships Races

Now The Tall Ships Races is unveiling the headliners for the race's false start and first day. In the spirit of the event, these are names that appeal broadly and have found their way into the hearts of Danes.

"We are now ready to announce the big names that will be playing at The Tall Ships Races 2026 in Aalborg," says Keld Rud Nielsen, responsible for music and entertainment, and continues, "We will kick off on Wednesday, July 29, when Patina from Funen will get everything going when they take over the Port of Aalborg stage at Slotspladsen. Then the folk festival should have just kicked off."

Patina is one of Denmark's most energetic live bands. They most recently had a big hit with the song Genstart, which lived up to its title three years after its release. The song is featured in the reality series Hotel Romantik.

"On Thursday we can present a bouquet of popular Danish artists. Blæst will close the Port of Aalborg stage. They have warmed up well with festival appearances all over the country prior to their appearance at The Tall Ships Races. There is a guarantee of lots of good songs and big hits such as All in, Juice and Elsker Dig Så Meget. As a warm-up for Blæst we have Mathias Ranch, who appeared in connection with the broadcast Andreas Odbjergs popmanifest. Finally, in the slightly more rock-oriented section we find Dicte, who with her latest effort Let's Escape showed that there is plenty of vitality and nerve in her songwriting pen," explains Keld Rud Nielsen.

If you make your way past the stage in Nørresundby, you can hear singer/songwriter Tue West and the popular duo Sko/Torp. Both names have previously played at The Tall Ships Races in Aalborg with great enthusiasm among the audience.

"Finally, we have a bit of a scoop. We have brought The Paul McKenna Band to Aalborg from Scotland. The band can celebrate their 20th anniversary this year. They have previously played at Tønder Festival, and they play authentic Scottish folk music that has won them lots of fans at home in Scotland and in all the countries they have toured," concludes Keld Rud Nielsen.

The headliners who will play at The Tall Ships Races on Friday and Saturday will be announced on June 19 and July 11, respectively.
